hello other members, my name is terry martin and i joined the club about three months ago. I have been a fisherman since age ten I was away in the services for a long time. I didn't start again until about five years ago, what a surprise I got. Everything had changed.
Any way I have fished barming above and below six times in total and blanked four times ! Im going again tomorrow, ( I'm not giving up )
Can any one tell me the best pegs where i may catch Chub and Bream. I was going to fish to fish the river eden. so i went on a reccey on saturday. what a disappointment firstly no stile ? just a new metal gate and a notice that says no public admittance or some thing like that.
Then there was what looked a new barbed wire fence stopping any one from getting down to the river for about fifth yards. I walked all of our section and about ninety percent was unfishable. it needs lots of work ? Thats enough of that Ilook forward to meeting you on the bank

Terry

Hello everyone, I have just become a member, I cant wait to fish the waters. Quick question.... What is it like over night at Mote Park? I've heard some stories that it's not very safe. I'm not a small lad but don't want to be approached by unsavouries and have my gear stolen..

Bowens Farm - Penshurst. Available with immediate effect.

We have opened up ten swims at Bowens Farm so that our members are able to fish this small lake. It is part of our lease of The Eden and the Leigh Barrier so no extra cost has been incurred. Thanks to Trevor Froud, Matt Bowden and Trevor’s mate Nick Delahaye for your help.
Local member Martin Cook has reported that it has previously had a good head of Chub to 5lb that find their way in when the stream spills... over. On his trial fish during the week he caught Roach, Rudd and Perch every cast using maggot hookbait. Much larger fish were disturbed though (we found this the case today as well) so we expect a few surprises when people start to fish it.

The only current rule we are imposing is one rod only due to the size of the water.

Directions: Bowens Farm, Poundsbridge Lane, Penshurst, Tonbridge TN11 8AJ

When you enter the farm go straight ahead until the green doors in front of you. Then turn right through the yard and continue down beyond the farm buildings and park on the right before the bridge.
During the summer months you will may be able to park at the lakeside. Distance from Car park to lakeside is about 50 meters.

Feedback on the venue, especially catch reports welcomed.

Hello, Just received my membership today!
Posted by: Paul Watts - 02-08-2018, 02:30 PM - Forum: Introduce Yourself - No Replies

hi All,
Just restarted fishing again last year after nearly 40 years rest! Still had most of my tackle in the loft, had some spare time but little money. After sorting out what I thought was usable , got licence and headed for the Medway. So things have changed. Boy what a surprise! Other anglers where talking a different language and the kit Hi-tech. still had an enjoyable season caught enough to put a smile on my face. Just really pleasure angling but at the end of the day its all that counts. looking forward to some interesting venues. Smile

Hello and can you give me some guidance regarding River Eden & the Medway at Leigh?
Posted by: John Riley - 24-07-2018, 05:04 PM - Forum: Introduce Yourself - Replies (9)

Hello
20 plus years since being a member of a club and looking forward to fishing the waters.
Can someone please confirm if Leigh on the Medway is still a water we can fish.
It is mentioned on the forum and is the book I received, but doesn't appear on the Website.
Also, many years ago the club I was a member of had the River Eden at Penshurst. A lovely stretch, with a weir and lots of good sized chub.
I went along on Saturday to reacquaint myself with this stretch of river, but found the grass and brambles impenetrable - very sad.
Is their a plan to open up the stretch (work party) or is it a case of trying to cut a way through when you go?
I appreciate the level is very low at the moment, but possibly that's a good time to open the bank up?
Apologies for my ignorance on these matters, but it once was a really nice place to visit and fish.
Thanks
